How to Book a Community Hall for a Birthday or Family Function
Community halls are the best-value event spaces in Indian cities — typically ₹45,000–₹85,000 for a full event slot seating 50–400 guests — but they're nearly invisible online because most platforms only list commercial banquet halls. Here's how to find and book one without relying on word of mouth.
What you get (and don't)
- Included: the hall, basic seating, fans/AC (check which), power and usually a prep kitchen. Parking is common but confirm capacity.
- Not included: catering (bring your own caterer — most halls allow it), décor, sound and cleanup. Budget ₹350–₹700 per plate for independent catering.
Five questions to ask before paying the deposit
- Is the slot morning, evening or full-day — and what are the overtime charges?
- Are outside caterers and decorators allowed, and is there a royalty fee?
- What are the music rules? Many residential-area halls cap amplified music at 10 PM.
- Is alcohol permitted? Most community halls say no — plan accordingly.
- What's the refund policy if you cancel or move the date?
